Beach Care Services
Beach Care Services’ mission is to provide short term emergency assistance to people who live on Panama City Beach and refer them when they require long term or more specialized assistance. We are locals helping locals. Services include assistance with utility and rent payments, clothing, food, transportation and more. Donations raised would go to support people who are struggling with rent/utility payments due to illness, seasonal work and accidents. On average it costs $150.00 per person. The goal is to reach up to 20 families.
Angel House Bereavement Center
Angel House Bereavement Center’s mission is to help children, adolescents and adults struggling with the pain of life-altering loss from either death, trauma or any significant life change, by providing healing, clinical, grief counseling and specialized supportive programs from our dedicated and highly trained grief counselors. The numerous changes and overwhelming grief generated by loss can be difficult to navigate especially for the most vulnerable among us in our community, our children. Donations raised would go to support the Angel House Bereavement Center’s Children Scholarship Fund to help allow grieving, struggling, vulnerable children whose families can’t afford counseling to get the healing specialized help and support they need. The goal is to help 15 children at a cost of $30 a session, on average, for 8 sessions, on average, per child.
Boys & Girls Club of Bay County
The Boys & Girls Club of Bay County’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Donations raised would go to support free bi-weekly events within the community over the span of the three-month summer program that would reach 100 teens; with the goal of increasing teen involvement within three local clubs. Teens would have the ability to gather with peers in an environment that has all the comforts of a local “teen hot spot” while still being in a fun and safe space. Teens would gather for live music, poetry sessions, and various sports games. These events align with the core developmental needs of teens (character development, the arts and sports/fitness). The cost of each event would be $140.00 or $1.40 per person.
Science & Discovery Center
The Science and Discovery Center of Northwest Florida will educate and inspire children and adults through hands-on, interactive exhibits and programs that promote discovery of science, technology, and history. The SDC museum has been in existence since 1967. We serve approximately 3000 students each school year through our field trips and outreach opportunities. Many of these groups also have interest in participating in one of our labs or educational programs. The field trip/outreach cost is $5 per student, with an additional $3 per student to experience the full lesson. Donations raised would go towards sponsoring students, most of which are at Title I schools throughout our district and surrounding counties.
Anchorage Children’s Home
Anchorage Children’s Home: An Anchor for Today’s Children…Strengthening Tomorrow’s Families. Anchorage operates an emergency shelter for abused, neglected runaway and homeless teens in our community. The shelter is a 24 hour a day/7 day a week 20-bed crisis shelter providing safety for teens age 10-17. Annually the program serves an average of 200 youth. The shelter is in need of new furniture for the living area where the youth study, have group counseling sessions and interact with volunteers and mentors. Donations raised would go to support purchasing new furniture for the teen crisis shelter.
